Ted Samuels

Ted Samuels retired from Capital Group in early 217 after 36 years with the firm. He was president of Capital Guardian Trust Company from 21-216 and at various times during his tenure at Capital was also a member of the Capital Group board of directors, the Capital Group finance committee, the Capital Group audit committee, and the Capital Group foundation board. Ted was also on numerous management committees, investment and proxy committees. He also was the Capital Group representative for the Focusing Capital for the Long-term project.

At Bristol-Myers Squibb, Ted is the lead independent director, is a member of the audit committee, and he chairs the committee on directors and corporate governance. Ted is also on the board of Perrigo Company, PLC, where he serves on the audit committee and the nominating and governance committee. Ted also serves as a director on the board of Centene Corp.

Ted is on the board of BJC Healthcare System, The Edward Mallinckrodt Foundation and John Burroughs School. He is also co-chair of the Tufts President’s Council. He is currently on the foundation board of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He was on the board of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles from 25-219, and he co-chaired the board from 212-215. Ted was also on the Harvard College Fund executive committee as well as being co-chair of the Harvard College Parents’ Fund from 29-214.

Ted graduated from Harvard College where he majored in economics and from Harvard Business School.

Ted and his wife Lori live in St. Louis, Missouri. They have three grown children.
