Executive experience: Sam retired as global chief executive officer of PricewaterhouseCoopers in September 29. Over his 36 year career at PwC, he led the US firm as chairman and senior partner of the Americas tax practice, and both the midwest and New York metro practices.  After retiring from PwC, Sam joined Citigroup where he served as vice chairman of the global corporate and investment bank from 211 until February 214. In this capacity, he served as the senior banker on many of the largest global clients of Citigroup across multiple industry sectors and geographies. He also served in various leadership development roles while at Citigroup.

Additional Information: Sam currently serves as the chairman of the board of trustees of The Mayo Clinic. He is a member of the executive committee of the board of trustees of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, The Inner City Scholarship Fund of New York City, and the National September 11th Memorial and Museum. He is a member of the boards of Seton Education Partners and The Partnership for Inner City Education, New York City. He is a trustee and executive committee member of the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation in New York. He is also a past trustee of the USA Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum, the International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation, the Financial Accounting Foundation, and the UN Global Compact. He is past chairman of the Geneva-based World Business Council on Sustainable Development, The Conference Board, and Junior Achievement Worldwide. Sam received a BS in accounting from the University of Alabama and a MS from the University of Houston. Sam is the co-author of Building Public Trust: The Future of Corporate Reporting.
