Phil Rivett is a non-executive member of the boards of Standard Chartered PLC and Nationwide Building Society. On both boards he is a member of the audit committee and the board risk committee. At Nationwide Building Society he is also a member of the board IT and resilience committee.

Phil is a chartered accountant with over forty years experience of professional accountancy and audit with a focus on banks and insurance companies. He retired as a partner from PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2018 after more 3 years as a partner. Phil was the engagement leader responsible for the audit of 2 major UK banks and served as the global chair of PwC’s global financial services group.

Phil has been a member of a number of financial services industry groups producing guidelines for best practice in governance, financial reporting and risk management. Phil has written a number of books on financial products and risk management. Phil was PwC’s representative on the working party with the Bank of England that produced the code of practice for the relationship between the external auditor and the supervisor. He also served on two G3 working groups, one that produced the report ‘Enhancing Public Confidence in Financial Reporting’ and another that produced ‘Clearing and Settlement – a plan of action’ as well as the monitoring group for this report.

Phil read physics at Imperial College in London, he is married with 2 children, and lives in the UK.
