Peter Taylor

Peter Taylor is audit committee chair for Pacific Life and audit committee chair of Edison International. He also sits on the board of Western Asset Investment Grade Income Fund Inc. Peter is also president of ECMC Foundation. In his ECMC role, he has led more than $165 million of investments in initiatives affecting educational outcomes. Before joining ECMC Foundation, Peter served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for the University of California system.

Most of Peter’s professional career was in investment banking, with nearly 16 years in municipal finance banking for Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital, where he was managing director for the West Coast Fixed Income Group. Before obtaining his master’s degree, he spent six years on the legislative staff of the California State Assembly Majority Leader working at the state capitol in Sacramento.

Active in the community, Peter is an appointee of Governor Jerry Brown to the board of trustees of the California State University system, where he has chaired the Educational Policy Committee and the Finance Committee. He also serves on the boards of the Parsons Foundation and the Kaiser Family Foundation.

In 24, Governor Schwarzenegger appointed Peter to the California Performance Review Commission, where he served for the year that the Commission developed its report. From 2–22, he served on the board of the California Student Aid Commission, as an appointee of Governor Gray Davis.

Peter is an accomplished speaker and author, with a particular focus on the role of career and technical education (CTE) in closing the skills gap.

Peter is a graduate of the University of California Los Angeles and holds a master’s degree in public policy analysis from Claremont Graduate University.
