Executive experience: Mike served as the interim chief financial officer of Cardinal Health from July 24 until May 25. Previously, he was chairman of Metaldyne Corporation from 2 to 22. Metaldyne is made up of the companies previously known as MascoTech, Simpson Industries, and Global Metal Technologies. 

Mike spent 36 years with General Motors (GM). He most recently served as chief financial officer and executive vice president for GM, where he was responsible for managing GM’s financial staff, pension investment group (GMIMCO), and GMAC. Previously, he was GM’s vice president and group executive in charge of North American vehicle sales, service, and marketing. Mike joined GM as a co-op student in 1964. In subsequent years, he held assignments at Inland Division in GM’s New York treasurer’s office and at the Detroit based financial office. He was named director of finance at GM de Brasil in Sao Caetano do Sul in 1979. Mike joined General Motors de Mexico in early 1982 as deputy managing director. In December of that year, he was named president and managing director of General Motors de Mexico in Mexico City. He was elected vice president of GM and general manager of the Pontiac motor division in 1984 and was named general manager of the Oldsmobile division in 1989. 

Additional information: Mike graduated from General Motors Institute with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. He also received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University. Mike served on the board of trustees for the Detroit Institute of Arts and was co-chairman of the Economic Alliance for Michigan.
