Executive Experience:  Marcy L. Reed is a seasoned executive, having served as National Grid plc’s president in Massachusetts and EVP Energy Policy & Social Impact (FTSE: NG and NYSE: NGG) from 2011 to March 2021. She has a reputation as a highly collaborative, energetic, empathetic, and pragmatic leader and confidently deals with pressure-filled and ambiguous situations.

Marcy worked for National Grid and its predecessor companies for over three decades, holding roles in Finance, Corporate Affairs, and Customer Relations in Boston and London prior to rising to the helm of the business in Massachusetts. She led the due diligence and integration processes for National Grid’s entry into New York with the $11 billion acquisition of KeySpan Energy and the $3 billion acquisition of Niagara Mohawk Holdings, Inc. Marcy led the transformation of the Massachusetts utility, delivering a record improvement in shareholder returns for the electric and gas distribution businesses. She led a team of 6,000 union and management employees. A longtime leader in the energy industry, Marcy brings broad management experience in finance, strategy, operations, enterprise risk, and external affairs. Notably, Marcy has offered policymakers practical legislative and regulatory solutions to address climate change, the integration of renewables into electric generation, and how to build the foundation of a new energy framework.

Marcy currently serves as an independent director for Clean Harbors (NYSE: CLH), Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA, and Northeastern University, chairing the Audit Committees of those entities. She serves as an independent director for Edison International (NYSE: EIX). She is a board member of Qualus, a private equity-backed power engineering company. She sits on the Board of Advisors for HomeWorks Energy, a fast-growing energy efficiency contractor. She is a qualified financial expert as defined by the SEC and a certified public accountant.

Previously, Marcy served as board chair of The Partnership, Inc., an organization working to build racially diverse leadership pipelines. She is a frequent speaker on topics of leadership, energy policy, innovation, and the evolving energy paradigm and has been recognized with numerous leadership and philanthropic awards, including being named three times as one of Boston’s Top 100 Leaders.

Additional information: Marcy earned her M.S. in Accounting from Northeastern University and her A.B. in Economics from Dartmouth and has Executive Education Certificates from both Wharton and INSEAD. She and her husband reside in Greater Boston, MA and Scottsdale, AZ and have two adult children.
