Kathy Bremer

Kathy Bremer is passionate about nonprofit leadership. She is insightful and tenacious about recruiting leaders who make a difference over the arc of time. She has led executive searches for ADL, Heifer, CDC Foundation, The Carter Center, Sierra Club, Union of Concerned Scientists, Food for the Hungry and many other nonprofits.
Kathy joined BoardWalk in 2007, after serving as partner and general manager of Porter Novelli in the Southeast. She led ten-fold growth and built a vibrant, diverse and inclusive culture. Prior to Porter Novelli, Kathy was Senior Vice President of fundraising and marketing for CARE, where she led global branding and double-digit growth in private resources.
Earlier in her career, Kathy was a senior executive at three New York advertising agencies, leading Procter & Gamble and other client work. Her team helped propel Folgers to number one coffee in America. Prior to these roles, she worked as a journalist and writer in Tokyo, having flown to Japan on a one-way ticket to begin the first of five career adventures.
Kathy has served on or chaired a dozen boards, including Global Impact, CHRIS180, Leadership Atlanta, International Women’s Forum of Georgia, Sheltering Arms, and Georgia Center for Nonprofits. She co-leads the annual Nonprofit Leadership Conference, now in its 12th year.
Kathy earned a BA in Sociology from Harvard University, where she played varsity tennis and squash, wrote for the Harvard Crimson, volunteered in family services and founded an entrepreneurial business. She is an alumni interviewer of prospective Harvard students. Kathy grew up in Queens, NY. She and her husband Alan have two grown sons.
