Executive experience: Karole Lloyd is the retired vice chair and southeast regional managing partner for Ernst & Young LLP (EY). From 2009 through 2016, she served as a member of the US executive board, Americas operating executive and the global practice group for EY. Karole transformed the business from a predominately audit and tax client basis to a full-scale professional provider of services such as advisory and transaction consulting, in additional to the traditional EY client services. Under her leadership, the southeast region doubled its annual revenue to exceed $1.3 Billion.

Karole was appointed to the board of directors of Aflac in January 2017, and she currently serves as the chair of the audit and risk committee. She also sits on the investment and finance committees of the board. Karole was appointed to the board of directors of Churchill Downs Incorporated in April 2018 and serves as chair of the audit committee. In addition to her board responsibilities, Karole serves in an advisory role to several businesses, including large private companies.

In her 35 plus year career at EY, Karole served many of EY’s highest profile clients through mergers, IPOs, acquisitions, divestitures, and across numerous industries including banking, insurance, consumer products, transportation, manufacturing, and retail. She served as the senior advisory partner for The Coca-Cola Company, Delta Airlines, Intercontinental Exchange, WestRock, and Johnson & Johnson. Karole formerly served as the coordinating partner for Toronto Dominion Financial Group in Canada and Regions Financial Corporation located in the southeast.

Karole’s extensive EY experience also included leading the firm’s fair lending practice in regulatory consulting, serving many of the largest financial institutions across the US including Bank of America, Citibank, U.S. Bancorp, and Key Bank, to name a few. She previously served as the regional partner for the financial services industry in the south and west, working with nine of EY’s area practices to implement the firm’s financial services industry strategy. During her EY career, Karole was elected by her peers to be a partner advisory council representative.
