Executive experience: Joe Echevarria is the retired CEO of Deloitte LLP, where his leadership responsibilities extended to approximately 7, professionals in nearly 9 U.S. cities and India. In addition, he oversaw the US owned consulting businesses in Germany, Mexico, China, and Brazil.

Joe joined the Deloitte U.S. firms in 1978 and became an audit partner in 1988. Since that time, he held a wide range of leadership positions, including chief operating officer. During his tenure as CEO, he chaired the U.S. Executive Committee, was a member of the U.S. and Global boards, the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL) Executive Committee, and he chaired the Americas Executive Committee.

Additional information: President Obama announced Joe as the chairman of President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Alliance. Subsequently he became chairman emeritus and now serves as advisor to the Obama Foundation.

Joe balances career and family life with his wife, who works as a technology consultant for Bacardi, and their three children. Given his Hispanic roots he is committed to helping others. He actively supports education programs, especially in the South Bronx neighborhood where he grew up as an inner city latch key child; and through community organizations such as the Orange Bowl Committee one of whose focus is whose is fostering park programs for underserved youth.

Joe earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami in 1978, where he serves on the Board of Trustees.
