Joan Amble

Executive experience: Joan has held various positions specializing in financial services, banking, and manufacturing. Joan was the executive vice president, finance for the American Express Company from May to December 2011 and served as its executive vice president and chief accounting officer/comptroller from December 2003 until May 2011. 

Prior to joining American Express, she worked for General Electric in varying capacities and earlier with the FASB and EY. While at the Financial Accounting Standards Board she specialized in pensions and derivatives and other financial instruments and served as a CPA (currently inactive) while with Ernst Young. Joan is the president of JCA Consulting, LLC and often speaks at Director events on areas such as board governance, corporate culture and audit committee and board best practices. 

Additional information: Joan is an independent advisor to Société Générale. She is passionate about helping women develop professionally, speaks at Women’s Forums and co-founded and is Chair Emeritus of W.O.M.E.N. in America, a leadership program designed to enable high potential women in business achieve their maximum potential.
