Denise Ward

Denise T. Ward, is an established communications professional with more than 25 years of experience in journalism, strategic communications, marketing and public affairs, both in the United States and abroad.

She currently works as the Associate Vice President for Communications and Marketing at Spelman College. Prior to that, she held roles in communications, at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (now Elevance Health), director of communications and media relations representative at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Denise held leadership roles in communications for Albany State University, Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, The Hershey Company, MillerCoors, and the University of San Diego.

Denise recently earned an Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) certification from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). She is an active member with both PRSA national and PRSA Georgia chapters. Her involvement with PRSA includes serving as a member of the Counselors to Higher Education programming committee. For PRSA Georgia, she currently serves as co-chair of the annual conference committee and has served on the social media, newsletter and nominating committees.

Denise is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
