Byron Grote

Executive Experience: Byron spent over 25 years at BP. During that time, he served as executive vice president, corporate business activities; chief financial officer; chief executive of BP Chemicals; executive vice president, exploration and production; and, as the executive responsible for directing the acquisition of ARCO and managing the integration of their operations into BP.

Prior to BP, he was an executive at Standard Oil, where he had management responsibility for a range of activities in international oil supply planning, logistics and crude oil trading. He also served as vice president, retail sales, where he was responsible for managing the company’s US retail petrol operations.

Additional information: Byron served as vice-chair of the UK government’s public services productivity panel, as chair of the chemicals innovation and growth team, a joint initiative of the UK Chemicals sector and the Department of Trade and Industry, and on the UK Government’s Asia Task Force.

Byron is a citizen of both the United States and the United Kingdom. He is married to Susan Miller. His personal interests include running, cycling, trekking, football, and theatre. He holds a PhD in quantitative analysis from Cornell University.
