André Abadie

André is managing director and head of global environmental and social risk management at J.P.Morgan in London, where he has firm-wide responsibility for the bank’s environmental and social risk policy and guides the assessment of clients and transactions against the policy requirements. More recently André has been instrumental in developing the bank’s Paris aligned financing commitment, announced in October 22.

André was previously director at Sustainable Finance Ltd., a subsidiary of PricewaterhouseCoopers UK, which focused on the delivery of environmental and social risk management services to the financial sector.

Prior to joining Sustainable Finance, André was head of sustainable business advisory at ABN AMRO, where he was responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of the bank’s environmental and social risk policy framework. While at ABN AMRO, André co-drafted the equator principles, a risk management framework for assessing and managing environmental and social risk in project finance, now adopted by more than 1 financial institutions.

Prior to his work in sustainability, André spent eight years working in the project, export and trade finance field in South Africa with both Standard Bank and ABN AMRO.

André holds a master’s degree in business administration, a higher diploma in corporate law, and an advanced diploma in sustainability.
