Alice Schroeder

Alice Schroeder is a former CPA, Wall Street analyst and banker, and portfolio director. She serves on the board of Natus Medical Incorporated, a NASDAQ-listed medical device maker, where she chairs the nominating and corporate governance committee and serves on the audit committee and compliance & quality committee. She serves on the board of Prudential plc, a FTSE 2 company, where she is chair of responsibility and sustainability. She has additionally chaired three other audit committees, including NYSE-listed Quorum Health Corporation. Alice was one of 219’s “Most Influential Directors” by WomenInc. magazine and one of 218’s “Directors to Watch” by Directors & Boards magazine.

As CEO and chair from 214-217 of WebTuner Corp., a Seattle-area hardware and software designer, she executed a turnaround that led to a successful exit when a group of investors led by Icon Technology Consulting formed Showfer Media and acquired its assets in May 217. She remains a major shareholder and consultant to Showfer Media. She originally moved from WebTuner’s board to management at the request of the rest of the board to recapitalize the company after the departure of a founder CEO.

Alice began her career as a CPA and auditor with Ernst & Young and after an 11-year career there, including a stint in the firm’s national office, spent two years as a project manager at the Financial Accounting Standards Board.

She was a managing director and senior advisor in the equities division of Morgan Stanley until 29, leading the global insurance research team, after serving as managing director at CIBC Oppenheimer and PaineWebber, beginning her career on Wall Street in 1993. She was twice ranked #1 on the Institutional Investor All-America Research Team and appeared on the team for eight years.

Alice is the author of the #1 bestselling biography, The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life, the story of Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway. In 22, editor Andrew Hill of the Financial Times named it one of his sixteen favorite books out of the 23 that have been nominated for the FT’s Best Business Book award since 24. The Snowball was called the “bible of capitalism” by the Washington Post, lauded as one of “Ten That Tower Above the Rest” by Janet Maslin of the New York Times, described as a “brave book” by author Michael Lewis, and has been featured on “best of” lists by numerous other publications.

Alice holds an MBA and BBA from the Red McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin and was honored as an exemplary alumna by the School of Business, and by the university for the centennial of its post-graduate education program.
