European Audit Committee Leadership Network
Assurance in a rapidly changing Europe
Audit committees play a vital role in fostering trust and confidence in European capital markets through the assurance of reliable financial reporting. These committees are increasingly tasked with supervising additional critical areas, such as cybersecurity.
Formed in 2004, the European Audit Committee Leadership Network (EACLN) includes the chairs of the audit committees of the largest European public companies. Three times each year, EACLN members gather for a confidential discussion. Meeting agendas are driven by the members’ interests, ranging from audit and accounting issues, to board leadership and effectiveness, to cybersecurity and other risk oversight matters, to engagement with policymakers, regulators, and standard-setters. EACLN members have enjoyed dialogues with European Commissioners, members of the European Parliament, the chairs of ESMA, CEAOB, IAASB and the IASB and member state regulators such as the UK’s FRC and Germany’s AOC.
The EACLN works closely with the Audit Committee Leadership Network (ACLN). Members of the EACLN and ACLN convene a summit meeting once each year.
